Divorce / Separation / Blended Family Adjustment

Do you feel like your child needs additional support adjusting to your divorce or separation?

Adjustment

Although some children show adequate adjustment to parental divorce or separation, some children experience ongoing emotional and behavioral difficulties such as anxiety, depression, anger, and academic difficulties.

Children may show similar emotional reactions when a parent engages in a new relationship or marriage to another partner, particularly if the partner has other children.

Our Treatment

We offer individual and family therapy to meet both your needs and your children’s needs.  During treatment, we usually help your child identify his or her understanding of the difficult aspects of the divorce and/or remarriage and how to address those issues.  Additionally, we often work on developing strategies for your child to maintain meaningful relationships with you and your former spouse as part of a comprehensive parenting plan.
