Out-Of-Network Service Provider

Westfield Mental Health Specialists is an out-of-network service provider.  Just as you might invest in a personal trainer to improve your physical health, we encourage you to think of engaging in psychotherapy as investing in your mental health and well-being.   You will be provided with the fee structure prior to your first session and given advance notice of any fee increases.  At the time of treatment, you will be responsible for paying a fee for services rendered and receive a receipt to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.  We are happy to discuss questions about reimbursement for our services with you and your insurance company.

Payment can be made by check, cash, or all major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express).

Insurance

Utilizing out-of-network services is a straightforward process.  Some insurance companies reimburse 50% to 80% of mental health costs once a deductible has been met.  As you are ultimately responsible for understanding your insurance policy and resolving claims with your insurance company, it is suggested that you review the following:

With respect to psychiatric and psychological mental health services, contact your insurance company and ask:

  • Do I need a referral from my primary care physician?
  • Do I have mental health benefits for psychotherapy?
  • Is pre-authorization from the insurance company required?
  • How many sessions will the insurance company reimburse?
  • What is the amount of co-pay and/or deductible that must be met (if any)?
  • Is there a specific list of diagnoses for which services are covered?  If so, is my diagnosis one of those covered by my policy?

With respect to psychological testing, contact your insurance company and ask:

  • Is psychological testing covered under my insurance plan?
  • How much of the testing costs will the insurance company reimburse?
  • Is pre-authorization from the insurance company required?
  • What is the amount of co-pay and/or deductible that must be met (if any)?
